The Friends of the Wembdon Road Cemetery were founded in 2010 with a handful of people who were passionate about restoring dignity to this much neglected Somerset cemetery. Our small group has steadily grown with much friendship, lots of hard work and very modest funds. Read more ABOUT US here.

By becoming one of the Friends of the Wembdon Road Cemetery, you will gain access to a full survey of the surviving memorials, including maps and transcriptions of the inscriptions. You will also be able to access burial record transcriptions, along with the complimentary burial registers of other congregations and the Bridgwater Union Workhouse. Read extensive biographies and research on the people of Bridgwater from 1851 to 1950. There are also additional resources on other cemeteries and burial grounds in the town.

By joining as a member you help us to safeguard the cemetery and fund the repair of memorials. You also help create a treasured space, fitting for the community of Bridgwater, the descendants of those buried here, the abundant wildlife, and the respectful memory of the dead. Explore the links here to see some of the features of the website and the benefits of becoming a member of the Friends of the Wembdon Road Cemetery. Even if you're not a member, you can still enjoy the Friends Diary, which details the hard work of the cemetery volunteers as they work to maintain and enhance the heritage and wildlife.
