The Harden Memorial B17/106

The Harden Memorial was repaired in the Summer of 2014 by Fine Memorials for the Friends.

Harden Memorial

The Harden Memorial is a simple cross near the main path of the cemetery and visible from the Wembdon Road. It takes the from of a rugged granite cross, on an equally rugged boulder plinth. The inscription reads: 17/106. In loving Memory of Edward Harden who passed away June 6th 1924 aged 87 years. Also Mary Ann beloved wife of the above who died December 8th 1927 aged 77 years. Also of Lily Harden their daughter who died March 4th 1954 aged 84 years.

It was repaired as part of the Friends effort to tidy up the section of the cemetery closest to the Wembdon Road, to improve the look of the site in this most visible area. As the Friends and private individuals had so many memorials in this section repaired at once, this memorial was done at the expense of Fine Memorials themselves. The memorial was simply pinned and mortared back into place.

This memorial is quite close to the Wembdon Road, as can be seen in the picture above, and as such its repair greatly improves the vista over the cemetery for those passing by.
