Diary: Sunday 11 March 2023

Dave, Chris, Alan & Rita working in the wet and muddy cemetery today (11 March 2023). Astrid unable to work today but came in to admire the work by Fine Memorials which had been done during the week.

The team walked around the cemetery first thing looking at the work and decided that it was too wet to start tidying up around the newly erected headstones, plus they needed to be settled in before we start to clean the stones.

Rita cleaned up the grave area where the 8-25 Hewett headstone had been laid, this headstone has gone back to Fine Memorials work shop to be repaired, the weeds and grass have been removed and the headstone can be placed back when restored. After finishing this job she went over to the wild flower area and continued to cut down the brambles and clear a bit more of the area of weeds etc.

The boys continued the hard work of clearing brambles and nettles from the North side of the cemetery, and have now reached the biggest bramble bush that the Friends will keep for the wild life, but this will be trimmed and tidied up so that is doesn’t encroach onto the walkway. They filled another 3 dumpy bags.
