A lovely day working in the cemetery today (20 April 2025), everything looking greener after the rain. Dave, Michael, Alan, Rita and Astrid in the cemetery today.

Rita and Michael worked on the overgrown wild flower garden that had been neglected for a while. When Astrid came in to join us for our tea-break, she was pleased that the flower garden was at last being tidied up, she stayed and assisted where she could.

Rita and Michael cleared the weeds, planted two Hebe plants, Michael then cut back one of the Bay tree’s doing a great job. Rita started on the second bay tree but was nowhere as good as Michael so she left it for him to finish off properly next week!
Alan and Dave were concentrating on the Culverwell 9-25 grave that was in a poor condition. The kerbs and posts had all broken apart, one long kerb broken and the grave had sunk to one side.
First job was to dig out the kerbs and posts and sort out the pad stones that the kerbs sat on. This took longer than expected but the pads were packed level and the kerbs and posts were put back dry.

It was decided to leave the cementing until another day as this would take a good hour and a half to do. The kerbs were made safe and Alan and Dave went over to inspect the work the others had done. They kindly took over the full dumpy bag of weeds over to the dumping area.
