Diary Sunday 18 May 2025

Michael, Alan, Rita and Dave in the cemetery today (18 May 2025). As the team have not been in the cemetery working for a while, they had a walk around and saw quite a few changes. They first saw that the grass had been cut, so thanks to the Town Council groundworkers a mammoth task as the grass had grown really fast since the first cut in April.

The neighbours whose fence was broken when the tree fell in the wind a few months ago has had the fence repaired and looks very good.

Chris forwarded us a photo during the week when he popped in with some extra dumpy bags, the neighbour at the other end of the North side has renewed his fences. Not an easy task for them as our side of the fence was quite overgrown, even though it has been cleared several times. Alan did pop in and have a word with him and said we would aim to clear where his last two panels are and clear the undergrowth from them.

It was also noticed that the Peace rose was in flower.

It was very hot today so we found a sheltered spot right in front of the cemetery. Alan with a little help from Rita cleared the front strips outside the railings adjacent to the main road pathway which had become overgrown. It was commented by a passing pedestrian how good it looked.

Work was then concentrated on the two large trees at the front of the cemetery, trimming back the saplings and taking the ivy off the tree trunks. Two dumpy bags were filled and taken over to the storage area. Sorry no before photo’s taken but did remember to take some after most of the work had been completed.
