Diary: Sunday 13 July 2025

Another blistering hot day for Chris, Dave, Alan & Rita who were working in the cemetery today (13 July 2025).

Alan and Chris dug out the small granite chipping from the Rookley B72 grave and took them over to the tap to clean. Quite difficult as Alan had forgotten to bring the sieve, but it didn’t matter as the stones were so small they would have gone through the sieve anyway! I think being in the shade and messing with water kept them both cool. The granite chippings were then spread back in the grave.

Dave and Rita were working under the ‘storage’ holly tree where we store our small bags, bricks and boulders. The holly saplings had grown wild along with brambles and ivy. The ivy had encroached right over the Howard grave and covered it completely. After their tea break Alan and Chris joined them and after filling three dumpy bags the majority was cleared. Just the hard bit of digging out roots, but too hot for that even in the shade!
