As thunder and lightning was forecast last week the team felt it would be safer to stay at home - back working in the cemetery today (27 July 2025) were Alan, Rita and Astrid.
First task for Alan and Rita was to take out the stone chipping from the B68 Rookley grave, although black membrane had been originally placed under the stone when we first cleared this grave, the weeds had encroached so badly that the membrane had to be taken out and replaced.

Rita then left Alan to clean all the stone, replace new membrane and put the clean stones back in place.

Rita cleaned off the ivy growing on the neighbours back fence, and trimmed long strands of bramble growing out of the hedge at the back of the houses in Wembdon Road.

She then went over to the Murlis grave to remove the ivy that had grown completely over the three tiers and base. (Not such an easy task as she first thought).

Along came Astrid who arrived a bit later and she weeded part of the wild flower area, then went over to Rita to assist her in digging out the large ants nest covering part of the broken laid down cross of the Murlis grave, Alan also came over to give them a hand.

All felt a good mornings work had been accomplished and happily went home.
