Another hot and sultry day in the cemetery (17 August 2025). Toiling away in the shade were Chris, Dave, Alan & Rita, plus Suki who was sleeping most of the time except during tea break (see photo).

All four worked in the shade of the high hedge behind the houses on Wembdon Road. Although the hedge is about 6 feet in depth, they only trimmed the long thin branches growing out into the cemetery, along with the ever fast growing brambles. Another 2 full bags of debris taken up to the dumping area and another just half full. All the blackberries have dried up in the heat and the leaves on the trees are beginning to fall due to the dry weather.

Between them Chris and Alan took about 8 buckets of water from one end of the cemetery to the other to water the new trees planted last year. Although the weather forecast is rain in a couple of days, it could be anywhere and not necessarily everywhere. So they have at last had a drink of water, it’s sure to rain on them now!
The neighbour who lives in the old Garden Nursery house popped in with his hedge cutter and trimmed the hedge on the cemetery side that he and his wife had cut back severely early in the year as he wants to keep it looking tidy. We thanked him as every little bit of work helps us.
The boys walked around the cemetery noting the many ant hills that have taken over some of the graves and need to be dug out, work for the future.
