Astrid, Alan, Dave, Michael and Rita working in the cemetery today (28 September 2025), the sun was shining and it was a lovely warm day.

Alan and Rita went in a bit earlier today as Rita had to leave early to assist in preparations for the Carnival concerts. Rita helped Alan on the Wood B25 grave helping Alan set the kerbs and posts ready for cementing.
Rita and Michael started work on the Davey B24 clearing the grass and weeds that Alan had loosened from the stones and membrane making their task a little easier.
Dave mixed the cement so Alan could bring the kerbs and posts together on the Wood grave, all went well. The broken centre slab although in a number of pieces was placed in the grave, to help prevent weeds coming through cement mortar was added around the inside of the kerbs and posts, and then the stone chipping was added. This grave was in a sorry state that the before and after photos will show.

Alan went over to the Davey B24 grave where Rita and Michael had done a good job in clearing the weeds and grass out, he noticed the end kerbs showed the remains of old cement which indicated it originally had posts. This was interesting as in the Gray B31 grave a short distance away were four large posts that did not belong to this grave as it already had a large headstone and a full set of kerbs. The Gray grave is in very poor condition, it is planned this will be sorted out shortly.
Alan moved the four posts to the Davey grave and had a dry run fitting the posts to the kerbs which fitted perfectly. They will be cemented back together when next in the cemetery, new membrane will be added and the stone chipping that was removed from the grave will be cleaned and put back in place.
Astrid spent the morning working on the wild flower garden where the weeds seem to grow quicker than she can pull them out!

Dave and Michael had half an hour left before they needed to leave so cleared the weeds and grass from the Rainforth grave B59 and also dug away ant hills around the Axford grave B47.

Alan worked on when the rest of the team had gone home for dinner, and Chris who had left a message to say he would be unable to work this morning, popped in to see what the team had managed to do, both agreed it had been a very productive day.
