Diary: Sunday 12 October 2025

Another productive day (12 October 2025) in the cemetery with just Alan and Dave working hard on the Gray grave B31. This grave is in very poor condition, the two long kerbs are broken and the centre concrete slab broken in many pieces and sunk in the middle.

The first job was to remove the centre pieces of broken concrete and lay them down on the grass in the same position as they were taken out. (as neither boys are very good at jigsaws).

With the use of rollers the kerbs were removed.

Next job was to level in new pad stones to enable the kerbs to be put back in position, due to time it was agreed to lay them in position dry, and cement them together at a later stage. The area around the grave was then tidied up.

Astrid popped in to hello and to say she is unable to do any work as she has pulled the ligaments in her hand.

Rita came in later, in time for tea break, she trimmed a nearby holly tree of the saplings and also of the elder that is also sprouting up around it.

Still a lot of work to be done on the Gray grave, cementing kerbs, putting the centre pieces of slab back in position, adding black membrane and stone chipping.

Again many thanks to the Council's grass cutting team for cutting the grass – they had to work a bit harder this time as it was the time of year for the Annual grass cut of the Paupers area. Well done lads!
