As Alan & Rita are unable to go in the cemetery next Sunday, Alan decided to finish off the G62 Jones grave while the weather was still fine.
On Monday Alan levelled up the three tier stones and cemented the kerb stones back together, this was a fiddly job, but the kerbs were level and looked fine. Two wheelbarrows of earth were spread around the grave to level the area up to the kerbs.
On Tuesday the job was to shovel out all the old stone chipping, sieve out the earth and place in a bucket, and the stone chipping put in bags. As the kerbs had to be raised slightly there was a need to build up the inside of the grave so that the bottom edges of the kerbs were covered. Luckily there were 2 spare bags of stone chipping in our storage area, these were then placed in the grave but were a slightly different colour. The old sieved stones were then placed on top giving the appearance of how the grave looked previously.
The cleaned cross and pot were placed back in the grave, using a bucket of the sieved earth this was spread around the grave to cover the red earth placed on Monday as it blended in better. It is disappointing that this grave had been worked on a few years ago as all four kerbs had fallen and were cemented and put back in place.
