Diary: Sunday 23 November 2025

Alan and Rita arrived early in the cemetery and were joined by Astrid later in the morning.

First job was to clear the pathway outside the cemetery of all the leaves fallen from the two large trees growing at the front of the cemetery, then while Alan finished off, Rita picked up most of the fallen twigs that had been blown down. It was surprising how long this took, for good measure the saplings from the Hazel tree were also cut back. Then it started to rain, luckily it didn’t last long so just to make sure a tea break was taken just in case it started again.

The neighbour across the road came over for a chat and she was asked to thank her husband for cutting up and removing the fallen branches over by the dumping area which fell in the last gales.

Astrid arrived and the team set about working on more of the graves in Plan B. B44 Agnew was weeded and cleaned up.

Next to be weeded and cleared was B45 Hook which was in an overgrown state, this grave had a small fallen headstone, a small end stone and the two posts laid inside the grave which go either side of the small end headstone.  Photos were taken.  They all left in the sunshine even though the forecast was rain!
