At last a diary for 2026, the longest wet winter we have had since starting work in the cemetery and at last the rain has stopped and the ground dried out. Although we have all popped in to look around and check things over now and again, we have finally been able to dust off the tools and get back to work.
Branches and twigs had been picked up and put in small piles around the front of the cemetery during their visits and when the piles mounted up, they were all put in a dumpy bag. A bit heavy for Alan & Rita and they slowly moved it toward the dumping area when they went in. When Chris arrived, he finished dragging it up to the top of the cemetery where the full bags are stored. Rather empty in this area as the Council Team have kept this cleared for us, all without having to be asked so we are very grateful to them.
Alan, Chris and Rita were working today in the warm sunshine, a gentle start by weeding a couple of graves at the front of the cemetery, moving down and stopping at the top of Section C and weeding C26 and C27 the Bradbeer graves, one of which was covered in ivy. Close by C58 Ruddock was covered in moss so that was cleared off.

Not wanting to overdo things on their first day back a leisurely tea break was taken followed by a short walk around. Seeing several large branches lying in the dumping area the boys got out the saws and soon had a couple of piles of neatly sawn branches.

While the boys were sawing Rita went over to the overgrown L13 Jarman grave with a very large ants nest built up on the end of the grave and was joined by Alan and Chris when the hardest part of the work was done! They were very helpful moving the mounds of earth away though!

A few photos were taken when they remembered, and left for their dinner after feeling it was good to be back!
