Cecil was born in 1901 to Harry Boyer and his wife Bessie Durston; 23 year old Harry's occupation was recorded as a general carter and they were living in 4 Polden Street.
By 1911 they had moved to 37 St John Street, Cecil was at school and he now had two brothers and a sister. Harry had moved on to become a foreman in a Coal Dealer's yard. Bessie was recorded as a Musical Instrument dealer.
His death record states that Cecil, ordinary seaman, part of the Volunteer Reserve Royal Naval had died of disease on the 11 October 1918. He had been attached to Royal Naval Depot Crystal Palace (known as HMS Victory IV) and his body was bought back to Bridgwater to be buried in the Wembdon Road Cemetery. His father was living in Barclay Street at the time.
