Much regret has been felt in Bridgwater at the death in the Middle east of Private Tom Jennings, S.L.I., son of the late Mr T Jennings of Bridgwater. Information was received on December 20 that private Jennings was ill and was on the danger list. On Tuesday morning last came the sad news of his death on December 20.
Private Jennings who was 30 years of age and much respected by all who knew him had been in the employ of Messrs Basker and Co., Fore St, since the age of 14 and on joining up nearly two and a half years ago was in the firm's photographic department.
He was married two years ago last November and his wife has been residing with the mother of Pte. Jennings (Mrs Meaker) at 48 Kendale Road. With the widow, mother and other members of the family, much sympathy has been expressed.
Pte. Jennings was a member of the Bridgwater Wheelers Cycling Club. A brother is serving in the Royal Air Force and another brother was killed in the Great War.
Frederick is buried in the Fayid War Cemetery, Egypt. Plot 1. Row C. Grave 18.
