The Duddridge Memorial was repaired in the September of 2013 by Mr. Duddridge for the family.
The inscription reads: 48/765 In Loving Memory of my dear husband Stephen Duddridge who passed away January 9th 1919 aged 73 years. Gone but not forgotten nor lost of love but gone to our fathers home above. Also of William Duddridge son of the above died at Dover December 15th 1915 aged 50 years. Also of Louisa wife of the above Stephen Duddridge who died June 22nd 1923 aged 78 years.
We learn small facts about this family from the burial registers. Stephen Duddridge lived in Somerset Bridge. Although William is mentioned on this memorial he was not buried here. When Louisa died she lived in Parkstone Terrace.
At some point this polished granite headstone had been toppled and laid flat. As the Friends were working to turn the whole cemetery around, descendants of the family came forward to fund the repair of their headstone.
The stone and surrounding kerb were dug out. The Duddridge Memorial was pinned and re-erected, the kerb tidied and repaired. A plastic membrane was placed within the kerb and chippings added on top. The stone was in such good condition it did not require cleaning, beyond brushing the mud off.
