The Palmer Memorial D7/42/899

The Palmer memorial was repaired in the Autumn of 2018 by Fine Memorials for Hilary Southall and Clare Spicer.

The Inscription on this stone reads: 42/899 In Loving Memory of Thomas Palmer who died Dec. 27th 1891 aged 74 years. Also of Sarah his wife who entered into rest Dec. 5th 1896 aged 74 years. I with you rest.

The Palmer memorial lay in a very overgrown section of the cemetery, just under a large bramble bush. When the Friends formed it was almost inaccessible, only being properly uncovered when the brambles were totally removed, and the adjoining grass pathway bought back into use. In 2015 the adjoining Hunt memorial had been repaired for a descendant of Charles and Mary Ann Hunt. In 2018 the Friends were contact by descendants of Thomas and Sarah Palmer, who were keen to have the family memorial repaired. Fine Memorials of Bridgwater were able to pin and set the toppled memorial on a new firm base. The Friends' volunteers then gave it a scrub, to wash away all the dirt and accumulated muck from the old brambles.
