The Friends of the Wembdon Road Cemetery are delighted to announce the publication of a new guidebook, A Walk in the Wembdon Road Cemetery. This has been generously funded by Bridgwater Town Council and Sedgemoor District Council.
The guide takes the form of a short walk round the cemetery, taking in eighteen important or significant memorials and features. Here you will find out about the history of the cemetery and the people buried there: men, women, rich, poor, scientists, industrialists, soldiers and more. You will also learn about the Friends' efforts in the conservation of this special place. Funds raised from the sale of the booklet will be put towards a future project, a sensory garden for the disabled, which we hope to locate in the ruins of the former Anglican chapel.
