Diary: Tuesday 4 April 2023

As it was such a lovely day (4 April 2023), Alan decided he would take Rita working in the cemetery today seeing as how she missed out on Sunday. She acted as his labourer but did manage to tidy up the Coombes and Bond graves 11-38 & 11-39 in between.

They worked on the Crocker grave 7- 65 replacing back the kerbs and posts which are shaped in the form of tree logs. These were first put into place to check that the pins holding them together fitted, then they were all cemented back together. Alan & Rita were pleased how this made such a difference to the memorial now these are in place. There is still more work to be done, tidying around the memorial itself and then sorting the areas in front and behind the actual memorial stones.

Watch this space to see what we finally decide to do!

Work on Crocker 4 April 2023

You can read more about the Crocker family buried here, and their fascinating stories, in the Members' section of the website, specifically here and here. An article about the very long process of repairing this large memorial is also underway and will be published as soon as we can. This cross on this memorial was repaired by Fine Memorials.
