Fine Memorial contacted Rita to say they would be in the cemetery today (8 August 2023) to work on the 6-16 Randle graves kerbstones. Alan decided he would go in to see what he could do to help. Ashley and his fellow workmate asked if there were any concrete slabs available to form new pads for the kerbs plus bricks required to wedge the kerbs in place. Alan left them to concentrate on their work and went to get slabs and bricks and took a few photo's of them at work. The lads worked hard on difficult job, the finished result looked great. Thanks lads.
Alan decided to sort out the Boon 14-11 and Godfrey 14-9 graves that were in a sorry state. These graves are two of the first graves people can see when entering the cemetery from Halesleigh Road. The Godfrey landing has sunk one side and the kerbs and posts were all loose, the earth was dug away from around the kerbs that will be cemented back together sometime later. Unfortunately not possible to level the concrete grave landing.
The Boon grave was overgrown with more weeds, but the concrete landing was level. The side kerbs and the shaped ends were laid on the landing ready for cementing back together. Photo's taken
