Diary: Monday 9 July 2024

Alan and Rita met Richard from Wessex Water in the cemetery today (Monday 9 July). Richard explained that his company give the staff one day a year to help out in the community on a project, and have chosen Wembdon Road Cemetery as their project this year.

Richard was shown around the cemetery and he was keen to trim the hedges and low hanging branches of trees. Happy to clear ivy from grave and head stones and generally cleaning up graves.

It is hoped that there will be a team of approx 15 possible 20 volunteers, working from 9 am until 3 p.m. and hope to be on site in 4 or 5 weeks.

Bridgwater Town Council will be contacted by our Chairman to confirm they are happy that such a project takes place.

We are thrilled with this kind gesture from Wessex Water as it will help keep the cemetery in good order, with the weather we have been having everything seems to be growing at a tremendous rate.
