Diary: Sunday 2 February 2025

No work last Sunday due to rain, but luckily although cold the forecast was no rain yesterday or today (2 February 2025), giving a little time to dry up the ground. Although still muddy underfoot it wasn’t too bad and Dave, Alan, Rita and Astrid (supervising) were pleased to see on their arrival in the cemetery that the Town and County Council workmen had been working hard. The tree root had been removed and the large tree trunk had been cut up – so we each have a seat to sit on during our tea-break, and the ground had been levelled to fill the hole made by the tree root. Thanks to the workers for their hard work. The neighbour can now repair their broken fence, and the Friends can now lay back the kerbs of the Hodge grave 13-53. The Friends had a general clear up and levelled the area filling two dumpy bags. Replaced the pots and plaque of the Webber/North grave back to its original position that were moved in front of the Britton grave for safety. Cleared the ivy growing on the neighbours fence. The next job will be to remove the chain link fence that was tangled by the fallen tree and put the pad stones down for the Hodge grave kerbs. A good mornings work, in the company of a few daffodils, primroses and snowdrops that are beginning to flower.
