Diary: Sunday 22 June 2025

Just Alan in the cemetery today (22 June 2025), Rita left at home to do the washing after 10 days on holiday in Spain. Alan thought he would pop in for a couple of hours.

First job was to sort out the Cook grave A24 that had a number of weeds growing in and around it. These were removed and a photo taken.

Then Alan moved over to the Norris grave B69 where Chris had worked on last week. Chris did a good job, Alan treated the weeds and grass that were between the kerbs and concrete centre slab, this is done to help restrict grass in particular, growing and forcing the kerbs apart. He then moved over to the Wells grave B70 next to the Norris grave and cleared the grass and weeds. Also removing the stone chipping ready for sieving and washing, plus treated the gaps between the concrete centre slab and kerbs to restrict weed and grass growth.

Alan noticed that the ivy was again beginning to climb up the pantomime wall, although only cut back last year, it is important that ivy on the walls are kept under control as it can be invasive and affect the lime mortar structure of the red stone wall.

Alan then made his way home.
