Chris, Rita and Alan working in the cemetery today (28 July 2024). They had a walk around the cemetery to start with, stopping at the wild flower garden and gave that a quick weed, the large lavender that Dave brought in last week is not looking too happy but we are sure it will perk up now it has had a drink of water. A wander around to the dumpy pile where the council have cleared the full dumpy bags. They then found a nice spot in Section M in the shade of a tree recently cleared of ivy and set to work on clearing nearby overgrown graves. Chris worked on the Dyer M89, Rita worked on the Sheppard M87 and Alan worked on the Herrin M104. They also assisted each other when help was needed.
The Marker grave M88 was also cleaned up. Photos of before and after were taken, well nearly, we seem to have mislaid the after photo of the Dyer grave but will post the before and after mid week.
A big day for us on Wednesday when volunteers from Wessex Water will be coming in to help with a good tidy, hoping for good weather, not too hot and no rain – not much to ask! So look out for a mid week diary, hopefully with lots of photos.
