Diary: Friday 19 and 21 August 2022

A double diary from last week, covering 19 and 21 August 2022.

Friday 19 August 2022:

Alan having a couple of hours to spare, popped into the cemetery to weed behind the house next to the cemetery where the area was cleared 2 months ago. It is incredible how fast the brambles and columbine grow. They have now been cleared again!

A good working day with Chris, Astrid, Dave, Alan and Rita in the cemetery today.

Chris was working hard trimming the trees in Plans 9,10 and 11 and after finishing clearing up the clippings and filling 2 dumpy bags he made his way to the top end of the cemetery where a Sycamore tree had lost a large branch – near Jam Factory Lane. It was quite a large branch but with so much ivy growing around the tree Chris was unable to see where it came from. All cut up and tidied now, a good job Chris, well done.

Alan and Dave started work on the Slater 9-8 and Hill 9-9 recently cleared of weeds etc., these two graves have have both sunk to one side and the loose kerbs are leaning into each other. They made both graves safe and everything is now prepared to start cementing kerbs and posts back together. A job worth doing in the sunshine, well done the boys!

Astrid and Rita were clearing the saplings from the bases of the trees and taking a heavy growth of ivy off the red sandstone Pantomime wall. Still more to be done before the job is completed but a full dumpy bag of ivy and saplings were soon filled. Well done the girls!

The cemetery looking a little greener now. Diary 19 and 21 August 2022
