Diary: Sunday 1 December 2024

Full house today (1 December 2024) and the sun was shining. Dave, Alan, Chris, Rita and Astrid in the cemetery today.

Although Astrid unable to help out yet it was nice to see her and have a chat while we had our tea break. It was agreed the team would concentrate in section E started by Chris last Sunday. The lads decided to wash and sieve the stone chipping in the Mountstevens E14 grave. The stones were caked with mud following the recent rain. Water from the cemetery tap was added to the wheelbarrow and using the sieve, little by little the stones were washed and returned to the grave. A back breaking job but rewarding when finished as the photo will show.

The Reece/Parr E15 grave was given a good sweep, this showed that both the long kerbs had been pushed out of position and it was decided that they should be cemented back into position, but this would be for another day.

The Prince grave E11 was also given a good clean, it was noticed that the end kerb near the path was loose and needs to cemented back into position.

Meanwhile Rita had been busy cutting back a small holly tree that was growing between the Graham F17 and Halliday F18 graves. When the boys finished off their jobs they helped Rita take ivy off graves nearby, a second dumpy bag was nearly full so Rita and Chris went to the front of the cemetery and picked up the pile of branches and twigs that had been brought down by the strong winds. Just a few large ones remaining that need to be cut up.

As rain was in the air it was time to pack up and may their way home.
